Summary of Qualifications for Robert A. Breit M.D.

Dr. Breit serves as Medical Director for Bucktown Open MRI, Joliet Open MRI, South Suburban Open MRI of Orland, and Open MRI of Olympia Fields. Dr. Breit is a widely respected neuroradiologist, who has limited his practice exclusively to MRI since 1992, and has extensive experience working on both high-field and Open MRI systems.

Dr. Breit was born and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia, and attended the University of Virginia where he earned both his Bachelor of Arts (1978) and M.D. (1982) degrees respectively. Following a transitional internship at MacNeal Hospital, Dr. Breit completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago. He received his board certification in Neuroradiology from the American Board of Radiology in 1995.

Upon receiving board certification, Dr. Breit completed a two-year neuroradiology fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital (1990), after which he served as Chief of Neuroradiology at VA Lakeside Medical Center. He then joined the faculty at Northwestern University Medical School, where he was appointed Assistant Professor of Radiology, and served as the Co-Director for MRI services until 1992.

Dr. Breit retains his appointment with the Northwestern University School of Medicine, and has authored or co-authored 24 scientific publications and has lectured extensively on the fields of magnetic resonance imaging and neuroradiology. In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Breit serves on the boards of numerous civic and charitable organizations, and is a member of the Executive Board of Directors for St.Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
